Leak Detector Smoke Diagnostic Tool
Leak Detector Smoke Diagnostic Tool
This compact smoke diagnostic tool helps technicians identify multiple system leaks in vehicles quickly and precisely. Operating on a standard 12V vehicle battery, it generates visible smoke that reveals hidden leaks in air intake, cooling, evaporation, fuel, exhaust, and vacuum systems. With both air and smoke modes plus a pressure gauge display, it provides versatile testing capabilities in a portable 2.78kg package. The comprehensive kit includes multiple adaptors and eight rubber blanking cones ranging from 5mm to 75mm, making it compatible with various vehicle systems. This efficient diagnostic method reduces troubleshooting time while providing clear visual confirmation of leak locations without messy residue.
Automotive Diagnostic Equipment
Multi-System Testing Capability
The smoke generator identifies leaks across six critical vehicle systems (air intake, cooling, evaporation, fuel, exhaust, and vacuum), enabling comprehensive diagnostics with a single tool and reducing the need for multiple testing methods or equipment when tracking down complex or elusive leaks.
Visual Leak Identification
Generated smoke creates clear visual confirmation of leak locations by escaping through even tiny openings, making invisible problems immediately apparent without disassembling multiple components, significantly reducing diagnostic time compared to conventional methods.
Dual Operational Modes
Separate air and smoke modes with pressure gauge display allow for initial pressure testing followed by smoke application once the system is confirmed to hold pressure, providing methodical diagnostic processes that pinpoint leaks with greater accuracy.
Universal Connection System
Eight differently sized rubber blanking cones (Ø5-10, 9-15, 14-19, 18-26, 25-35, 32-45, 45-60, 60-75mm) plus specialised adaptors accommodate virtually any vehicle system opening, eliminating the need for improvised sealing methods and ensuring proper smoke containment during testing.
Workshop-Friendly Design
The compact 1.86kg machine with 1600mm hose offers excellent manoeuvrability around vehicles while operating directly from the vehicle’s 12V battery, removing the need for separate power sources or extension cords during diagnostic procedures.
Clean Testing Process
The 10ml oil reservoir requires minimal mineral oil for operation, creating clean, visible smoke that dissipates without leaving residue on components or surfaces, maintaining cleanliness in the work area and on technicians’ hands during diagnostic procedures.
Practical Applications
EVAP System Testing: Detects emissions-related leaks in the evaporative system that may trigger check engine lights but leave no other symptoms, using the included EVAP connector to introduce smoke directly into the system and revealing leak locations that standard pressure tests might miss.
Intake Manifold Diagnostics: Identifies vacuum leaks causing rough idle, poor performance, or failed emissions by introducing smoke into the intake manifold while the engine is off, with escaping smoke immediately revealing cracks, loose connections, or deteriorated gaskets.
Exhaust System Inspection: Locates exhaust leaks that create noise, performance issues, or potential hazards by pressurising the exhaust system with smoke and visually tracking escape points, enabling precise repair rather than component replacement based on assumptions.
